Intermediate Designer
Overall Responsibilities
To execute most phases of the production of a project with supervision from Project Leaders and Design Director. Has a basic understanding of current LTW Design goals and expectations. With the guidance of a Design Director or Project Leader, able to understand the client and operators requests, needs and desires and has the ability to follow through on them within the context of producing a LTW design. Has the ability to mentor Junior Designers.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Concept
• Collaborate in the development of concept design through planning, sketching, rendering.
• Select directional images, and finishes.
• Review with Project Lead, Design Directors and/or Partner.
Schematic
• Acquire and coordinate samples from vendors.
• Formulate furniture direction.
• Further develop concept design with sketches, thumbnails, plans and the creation of specialty finishes.
• Refine finish selections
• Review with Project Lead, Design Directors, and/or Partner.
Design Development
• Flush out and refine the approved design language into buildable drawings.
• Assist in any information the FF&E Designer may require.
• Review and implement design specifications with the FF&E Designer, re: FF&E, hardware, plumbing, and architectural finishes.
• Coordinate with outside project consultants such as lighting, MEP, Structural, Signage, kitchen consultants etc, as necessary to complete a well-coordinated project.
• Review with Project Lead, Design Directors and/or Partner.
Construction Documents
• Work with Project Management in the development of specialty custom built items.
• Develop a complete drawing package, including detailing, elevations, and plans as per LTW Office Cad Standards.
• Compilation and finalization of all FF&E pieces with sufficient information to pass through to the Specification Department.
• Develop a small drawing package including full design intent of all millwork and custom furniture as per LTW Office Cad Standards.
• Continue coordination with outside project consultants such as lighting, MEP, Structural, Signage, kitchen consultants etc, as necessary to complete a well-coordinated project.
• Review and implement necessary changes and additions with the FF&E Designer, re: FF&E, hardware, plumbing, and architectural finishes.
• Review with Project Lead and Design Director.
Construction Administration
• Provide sufficient information when requested by the Project Management team in the development of budgets.
• Answer vendor/contractor’s questions.
• Review Shop Drawings and Submittals
• Provide site clarifications when necessary.
• Review with Project Manager, Project Lead and Design Director.
Mentoring Entry Level Designers
• Share and pass on design knowledge to Junior designers.
Consults with
• Design Director, Project Lead, Senior Designers, Other Intermediate Designers, Junior Designers, Resource Team and Support staff
Qualifications (necessary skills and experience required)
• At minimum an Associate’s Degree in a related field of Design (Interior design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Fashion design, etc.)
• 2+ years of work experience necessary.
• Adequate knowledge of the Interior Design Profession.
• AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch up and Black and white hand rendering skills are necessary for the position.
• Additional 3D software skills are an asset
